Introduction

Our mission is to inspire the next generation to explore their potential in design, architecture, and technology. We encourage them to approach challenges with varied perspectives and practice the idea that there’s often more than one right answer.

Instructed by T’Yanna Moore, a Chicago-based graphic designer and photographer—Font Flip introduces participants to the principles of design and creative problem-solving.

Structure

We start off with covering the fundamentals of type, its characteristics, vocabulary and nomenclature. Next the participants sketch concepts for their personal font and we work over the next few weeks to refine the sketches.

Once the alphabet is completed, it is digitized and converted into a functional font file. Participants will use their font for creative projects such as posters or t-shirts, to showcase the typeface in use.
